Menstruation remains a deeply entrenched cultural stigma across Africa. During their menstrual cycles, women are often barred from cooking, and in certain regions, young girls are forced to miss school. In countries like Chad, many girls conceal their periods entirely, keeping it a secret even from their mothers and sisters. Regarded as a strict taboo within families, general discussions around sexuality remain deeply uncomfortable, leaving women with a profound lack of knowledge regarding their own anatomy.
"The Pink Cup" (La Copa Rosa) is a multimedia project featuring a short documentary film and a photographic exhibition that brings these critical issues to light.
